The latest MALAYSIAWATCH POLL is to seek your views on the proposal to acquire the Coliseum Cinema as a Heritage Building.
Just put yourself in the present owner's shoes and imagine what anguish the man is suffering. After more than 50 years of good stewardship, he is being told that his property and business is for the "national interest".
Do you mean Malaysia will go down the tubes if this property is left alone?
Take the poll and let the authorities know what you think.
Sometimes some people who are supposed to think do not actually do that.

The movie goers should petition against the acquisition. This is probably the last remaining cinema in the country showing hindi / tamil movies.

Actually, cinemas screening Tamil/Hindi movies are very much alive and well in Malaysia. Capitol (i think) which lies at the corner of Jln Dang Wangi and Jln Tuanku Abd Rahman is another one. The 70s-built State cinema in PJ has been refurbished and now screens Indian movies too. i've also heard Sentul cinema might make a comeback. That's just the Klang valley. Indian movie-going is wa-aay healthy it seems. Which makes keeping the Coliseum as it is even more compelling.
